Few major world cities have sprawling rural areas so close to the central business district as Hong Kong and this excursion heads to the celebrated Dragon’s Back trail which Time magazine has declared as the “Best Urban Hike in Asia”. The designated walk offers stunning views of coastal villages, sandy beaches, offshore islands, sheltered bays and the South China Sea.
The Dragon’s Back is a path that connects Wan Cham Shan and Shek O Peak and is so named because it is reminiscent of the shape of a dragon’s backbone. The route takes in Shek O Country Park which is home to rare barking deer, and also an elevated viewpoint which is a popular launch point for paragliders. The 8.5-km trail takes an average six hours to complete.
