Skiers still have until late March to enjoy this year’s white powder, and a resort in China offers one of the best options in Asia.
The Yabuli Ski Resort, located in the northernmost province of Heilongjiang, is praised as China’s Davos. It is built on Yabuli Sun Mountain, part of the Changbai Mountain Range, about 180-km southeast of the province’s capital city, Harbin. The slopes cater for all skill levels, especially advanced skiers; the resort serves as the primary training venue for China’s national teams including Alpine, Nordic and Freestyle teams. It was also the venue for the 1996 Asian Winter Games.
Besides catering to skiers, Yabuli has facilities for snowboarding, ice skating and tobogganing – the Yabuli Toboggan Run is currently the world’s longest. The resort incorporates a number of hotels and bed and breakfast establishments with an estimated 600 beds close to the chair lifts, with further accommodation options in the town of Yabuli itself.
